10 Ideas for a Christmas Proposal

10 Ideas for a Christmas Proposal

Are you thinking about proposing around the holiday season? It’s no surprise that “the most wonderful time of the year” is also one of the most popular times to pop the question!

If you’re set on proposing this Christmas but aren’t sure how to do it, here are some ideas to inspire you!

Christmas Proposal Ideas

1. Create an Advent Calendar

If you’re creative and crafty by nature, you could create a one-of-a-kind advent calendar with that begins small, thoughtful gifts and ends with the best one ever (an engagement ring)!

2. On the Christmas tree

The Christmas tree creates an excellent opportunity for a fun proposal. Tie the engagement ring on a ribbon, hang it on the tree, and reveal it at the perfect moment.

3. Use Christmas lights

Christmas lights can be used to spell out a special message (like “Will you marry me?”) or light up a romantic dinner that ends with you on one knee.

4. Christmas Family Picture

You could also use Christmas family pictures as an opportunity to surprise her on one knee. She’ll never see it coming AND you’ll end up with fantastic pictures! Win-win!

5. In a Christmas Stocking

After finding her stocking packed with the usual stuffers, imagine her surprise when she finds a tiny box at the bottom -- with a gorgeous ring inside!

6. Use the Box-in-a-Box Trick

If you want to put the ring under the tree but don’t want her to see it coming, you can always try the classic box-in-a-box trick. Wrap the ring in a small box, and then put it in a larger wrapped box. If you want to extend the experience, add more boxes!

7. While Ice Skating

If you both enjoy ice skating, why not use this as an opportunity for a romantic winter proposal? Skate around for a while, and then drop to a knee in the center of the rink!

8. At a Christmas Party

If you like the idea of proposing while surrounded by friends and family, a Christmas party presents a perfect opportunity. Recruit friends and family to help make it extra memorable!

9. Christmas Day Treasure Hunt

If you’re not the type to put a ring under the tree on Christmas morning, consider creating a treasure hunt. Lead her around the house with clues (not too hard though!) and end with the proposal.

10. At the Christmas Tree Farm

If picking out your Christmas tree is one of the highlights of your holiday experience, this is another great opportunity to pop the question! You can even recruit employees to take pictures so you capture the moment forever.
