How to Take the Perfect Ring Selfie

Fortunately, there are a few tricks you can use to help your jewelry to show up better in pictures. Here are some tips for getting the best engagement ring “selfies!”

Tips for Photographing Engagement Rings

Lighting

Like any photography, great lighting is the key to getting a great engagement ring picture. If you want your ring to really sparkle and look its best, find some natural light to photograph it in. Camera flashes and other artificial light can leave white spots in your pictures that distract from the beauty of your ring. If you can, use the sun as an indirect light source, such as through a window.

Background

Next, make sure you have a great background for your picture. You can use a plain white backdrop, or something more elaborate. Just make sure that the background of the picture is attractive (shove any mess out of the way)! You can pose with your significant other, a pet, or go it alone. Some gorgeous flowers in the background are always a great choice, too. 

Fun tip: Depending on the time of year, it can be fun to incorporate some seasonal elements. For example, if you got engaged in the fall, try posing with some pumpkins or fall foliage in the background. 

Set Up a Tripod or Use a Selfie Stick

It can be tricky to take the perfect selfie when you don’t have the right tools. If you find that you can’t get a good picture using just your arm, consider using a selfie stick or a tripod with a remote. You will find that these come in handy and allow you to expand your “selfie” photography options -- and get much better pictures as a result!
