Wedding Planning Tips for Short Engagements

Wedding Planning Tips for Short Engagements
Are you newly engaged and planning to tie the knot soon? Planning a wedding in a short amount of time is tricky, but it can be done! While most engagements last over a year, many successful weddings are planned in 6 months or less. Here are tips for planning a wedding in record time.

1. Be Flexible with Your Plans

If you’re set on having a quick engagement, you should try to be flexible with your plans. For example, if you have your heart set on one particular venue, you might end up disappointed. Many venues book over a year in advance, so you will probably need to consider several options. You may also need to be flexible with other arrangements, including your wedding date.

2. Recruit Help

It’s hard enough to plan a wedding by yourself when you have lots of time, and it’s even more challenging when you only have a few months. To ease the stress of planning a quick wedding, ask for help! You could hire a wedding planner or ask for help from family and friends. Delegate whatever tasks you don’t need to handle personally. Don’t forget to include your fiance in the planning process!

3. Stay Organized

Next, do everything you can to stay organized with your plans. You can use online organizational tools and or a physical planner. Just make sure that you keep track of all the details so that nothing falls through the cracks. It’s also important to keep track of signed contracts for easy reference.

4. Use a Checklist

Building off of our last point, you should also consider using an online wedding planning checklist. A comprehensive list will help you to plan out all the details of your wedding, ensuring that you don’t forget anything important. Use a list specifically for short engagements, such as this 90-Day Wedding Planning Checklist, to help you plan for appropriate timeframes.

5. Know What To Do First

After you’ve gotten organized and have your checklist ready, figure out what steps need to be done first. Booking your venue, ordering your dress, and shopping for wedding bands are examples of tasks that should be early on your list. Prioritize all your tasks by month and week, and then get started!

Planning a wedding in a few short months may not be easy. However, if you’re flexible with your plans, know what to do first, stay organized, ask for help, and use a checklist, there’s no reason why you can’t have a fantastic wedding — no matter how soon the big day is!
